PARANOIA
By Craig DiLouie
Fans
of the X-files will be lured into this compelling
novel, and will question reality until the surprising
conclusion. Chad
Carver, an orderly working at a mental health hospital,
knows all about conspiracy theories thanks to some
of his more paranoid patientsdark fantasies
about black helicopters, thought control, international
bankers and secret U.N. armies. Then his long-lost
brother Palmer appears at his door claiming to be
a renegade from the biggest secret society of allthe
Illuminatiand predicts that the President will
be assassinated in three days. After this prediction
comes true, Chad plunges headfirst into Palmers
dark world where conspiracies are formed to fight
conspiracies, where reality changes according to belief,
and where even conspiracy theorists are agents of
the Illuminati. When Chad learns that he must
kill for his beliefs, the line between theory and
reality disappears. Palmer tells him that the Illuminati
are about to release a biological weapon, and if he
kills the Grand Master of the Illuminati, the world
will be saved. Or so the theory goes...

“Craig
DiLouie’s Paranoia was an exhilarating romp
through the shadowy corridors of power where subterfuge,
secrecy, and an insatiable desire to rule the world
all contribute to create a state of psychological
disequilibrium. The tension and suspense in this book
was so engrossing that I finished it in two sittings,
and by the final page I felt as if I had became at-one
with the main characters.” Victor

Paranoia
is a book I can recommend to those who like off-beat,
on-the-edge adventure. It's rough, it's scary...a
real page turner...Paranoia made me paranoid.

Commercial
The
minute I read the publicity blurb for Paranoia, I
knew I had to read it. Any time somebody namedrops
the Illuminati, assassinations, and paranoid schizophrenia
in one breath, I can't resist. This has, at times,
led me to some really unfortunate reads. Fortunately,
Paranoia is not one of those. A solidly-crafted suspense
thriller, complete with enough info for a Conspiracy
101 syllabus, the book is a taut mind-bender.

Craig
DiLouie's page-turner ... will cause even the most
hardened skeptic to stop and consider who is really
pulling the controlling strings of the world.

Craig DiLouie's 2001 novel is … a reflection
on mind manipulation and memetic mechanisms, paranoid
schizophrenia, and power abuse. Oh, and the book is
a damn good read, too ... Conspiracy theories, priests
with guns, the Illuminati … mind viruses, biologic
viruses, and much much more: Craig Dilouie's witty
novel PARANOIA has it all. Worth buying? I certainly
think so. But read for yourself. .rb,

This
novel is a witty and intelligent meditation on the
role of conspiracy thinking in modern America. It
works as both a smart thriller and a thought-provoking
primer in matters conspiratorial. It brings together
All You Ever Needed to Know About Conspiracy Theories,
and manages the difficult balancing act of both taking
popular paranoia seriously, and being skeptical about
that everyday skepticism.Dr.
